Marianne NobleのRethinking Sympathy and Human Contact in Nineteenth-Century American Literature (2019)の Introduction, Chapter1, 2 (pp1-114)について登壇者が内容報告をし、参加者との議論を通して、エマソン、ソロー、ホイットマン、ホーソーンらの作品における「共感」のテーマについて再考する。
